Dindigul, Tamil Nadu, June 8, 2025: In an effort to ensure the safety and comfort of devotees visiting the Sadguru Jeeva Samadhi Temple at Kankaikanpatti, near Palani in Dindigul district, local police have taken proactive steps to regulate auto-rickshaw services operating in the area.

As directed by District Superintendent of Police Pradeep and under the instructions of Palani Police Sub-Inspector Thanajeyan, a special advisory session was conducted for local auto drivers by Ayakudi Police Sub-Inspector Anand.

The initiative aims to improve passenger safety, regulate traffic behavior, and ensure respectful conduct towards devotees traveling to the temple.

Key Guidelines Issued to Auto Drivers:

  • Uniform Compliance: Auto drivers must wear khaki shirts while on duty to maintain uniformity and easy identification.
  • Passenger Limit: Strictly no more than six passengers should be transported at a time to avoid overcrowding and ensure safety.
  • Safe Driving: Drivers must operate their vehicles at a slow and steady pace, especially when transporting devotees to the temple premises.
  • Polite Conduct: Drivers were instructed to speak respectfully and courteously to all passengers, reflecting the sanctity of the pilgrimage site.
  • No Drunk Driving: Absolute prohibition on driving under the influence of alcohol was emphasized.
  • Identification Requirement: Auto drivers must wear name badges while on duty for accountability and transparency.

The session witnessed participation from over 50 auto drivers operating on the Kankaikanpatti–Jeeva Samadhi route. Police Sub-Inspector Anand personally addressed the group and urged them to support the police in maintaining order and providing a safe experience for temple visitors.

This initiative is part of the broader efforts by Dindigul District Police to ensure pilgrim safety, smooth transportation, and community-friendly policing during religious visits and gatherings.
