Rachakonda: Acting on credible information, the Special Operations Team (SOT) of the LB Nagar Zone, in collaboration with the Jawahar Nagar police, dismantled a drug racket by apprehending two interstate drug peddlers. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered at the Jawahar Nagar Police Station, Rachakonda.
TheAccused persons were dentified asOma Ram @ Om Prakash s/o Bhura Ram aged 35 years from Rajasthan and he is a Consumer, Transporter, and Peddler; Sanwala Ram s/o Tulachha Ramji aged 33 years from Rajasthan and he is a Consumer and Peddler; Vikas @ Mukesh aged 32 years from Madhya Pradesh and he is the Source and absconding peddler.
The Police seized Poppy Straw: 40 KGs, MDMA: 10 grams, Cash: Rs. 10,000/-, Mobile Phones: 3, and Wi-Fi Dongle: 1.Total Drug Worth: Approximately Rs. 45 Lakhs.
Brief Facts:
The accused, Oma Ram and Sanwala Ram, natives of Rajasthan, were earning their livelihood through carpentry and SS railing work. Facing financial difficulties, they decided to earn easy money by selling narcotic drugs. A few months ago, they connected with Vikas @ Mukesh from Madhya Pradesh, a known drug supplier. Since then, they have been purchasing poppy straw and MDMA from Vikas Mukesh and transporting these drugs via public vehicles (buses, lorries, autos, etc.) to sell to customers around Hyderabad City.
On the evening of July 21, 2024, based on a tip-off, the SOT LB Nagar team, along with Jawahar Nagar police, apprehended the accused near Malkaram Village, heading towards Thimmaipally in Keesara, within the jurisdiction of Jawahar Nagar police station. They seized 40 KGs of poppy straw, 10 grams of MDMA, Rs. 10,000 in cash, 3 mobile phones, and other incriminating materials from their possession. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the absconding accused. The primary peddler and source remain at large. Efforts continue to identify and apprehend the receivers and consumers in and around Hyderabad.
The public and students are reminded that procuring, selling, transporting, and consuming banned narcotics and drugs is a crime punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment and, in some cases, death, under Section 31A of the NDPS Act. Society is urged to assist the police in curbing this menace.
These arrests were made under the direct supervision of Mr. G. Sudheer Babu, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, and guided by Mr.K. Muralidhar, DCP, SOT, LB Nagar-Maheshwaram, with the assistance of SOT and Jawahar Nagar police personnel.
