Rachakonda: On credible information, the sleuths of SOT, LB Nagar Zone team along with Meerpet police apprehended (04) interstate drug peddlers and a case was registered against the accused persons at Meerpet Police Station of Rachakonda.
The apprehended individuals, namely Narendra Bishnoi, Praveen Bishnoi alias Praveen Kumar, Hema Ram, and Pakkaram Devasi alias Prakash, originally hailing from Barmer district in Rajasthan, found themselves ensnared in the grip of drug addiction. Initially mere consumers, their trajectory took a darker turn as they evolved into procurers and distributors of narcotics. Their illicit activities allowed them to generate illicit income by catering to the demands of those seeking controlled substances.
These individuals, aged between 18 and 31, were employed in the steel railing industry in Meerpet. Narendra Bishnoi and Praveen Bishnoi were both involved in steel railing work, functioning not only as consumers but also as peddlers. Hema Ram, on the other hand, served as a transporter, facilitating the movement of the contraband. Pakkaram Devasi, engaged in the hardware business, wore the dual hat of a consumer and a peddler.
The seized property provides a glimpse into the scale of their operations. A total of 150.3 grams of heroin and 32.1 grams of MDMA were confiscated, alongside essential tools of their trade such as weighing machines 2 Nos., envelope covers 60 Nos., zip lock covers 50 Nos., and silver-colored paper bundles (aluminum foil) 2 Nos.,the net cash amounting to Rs.2,500, along with two-wheelers 2 Nos. and six mobile phones, further underscored the magnitude of their illicit enterprise.
It is worth noting that both the main peddler and the source of the narcotics, both residents of Rajasthan, managed to evade law enforcement, leaving a significant gap in the investigation. The international market value of the seized drugs is estimated to be approximately Rs.1 Crore, shedding light on the lucrative nature of their illegal activities.
The accused individuals, once victims of drug addiction themselves, became perpetrators by capitalizing on the demand for narcotics. Their journey from mere consumers to active participants in the drug trade serves as a stark example of the destructive impact of substance abuse and the subsequent involvement in criminal enterprises.
