Dindigul, Tamil Nadu: Acting on a tip-off received by the District Forest Officer regarding the poaching of wildlife at a private estate in the Sirumalai forest area (Dindigul district), a Forest Department team led by Sirumalai Forest Ranger Suresh conducted an inquiry. They apprehended T.J. Thomas, a 38-year-old employee of the Sirumalai PTP Estate, who confessed to poaching wildlife. A subsequent search led to the seizure of a country-made gun, wildlife body parts, and a knife used for butchering the animals. An investigation is underway to determine if others were involved.
