Andhra Pradesh: As transactions through digital platform are increasing in recent times, crime through these platforms is also on the raise. Many loan apps/micro credits are targeting vulnerable and low income groups with loans of High interest rates and hidden charges followed by blackmailing, extortion with criminal threats and recovery methods. They are causing more trouble by making them download the loan apps and stealing personal information like phone contacts, camera location. Family photos, call recordings are morphed and sent to relatives, friends on social media. Also collecting high interests by blackmailing and harassing mentally. Fake loan app companies lure with the promise of immediate loan approval without any Guarantee documents and CIBIL score. Even after paying entire loan they demand to pay more. RBI declared 600 apps as illegal & identified 137 fake loan apps running in the country without any approvals related to NBFC with a Chinese link. Before downloading the loan app, visit https://rbi.org.in/scripts/bs,nbfclist.aspx to know whether it is fake or true. So far, 75 loan app harassment cases have been registered in the State and 80 people have been identified and arrested. Loan app developers, play Stores which publish loan apps, Who share through WhatsApp & other mediums, officials who support loan app applications, service providers who do not properly check KYC, banks and payment mediums who do not inform high current account suspicious transactions are liable for legal action. Also appeals not to commit suicide due to fear of threatening calls/SMS/photo morphing and urged loan app victims to come forward and complain in nearest Police Station or call 1930.
