Manipur, Kangpokpi: Security forces patrolling along National Highway-02 between T Khullen and Koubru Laikha in Kangpokpi district thwarted an alleged extortion attempt on Thursday. The incident occurred near PK Workshop under the jurisdiction of Kangpokpi Police Station.
According to officials, while returning from Koubru Laikha, the joint team noticed a group of individuals stopping commercial trucks, reportedly attempting to extort money from the drivers. Upon spotting the security personnel, the suspects fled the scene.
However, one individual, identified as Lunminthang Guite (27) from Khamenlok, Saikul, was apprehended. A smartphone and Rs.25,000 in cash were recovered from his possession. Further investigation is underway.
