Vijayawada: In order to curb road accidents in Vijayawada, a targeted campaign against drivers consuming alcohol in various parts of the city has been initiated under the guidance of Mr. Kranti Rana Tata, IPS District Police Commissioner. On September 9, 2023, the 5th traffic police division brought 15 individuals charged with drunk driving before the court. The honorable judge imposed fines of Rs.15,000/- on four of them, and Rs.10,000/- on the remaining 11 offenders. Drunk driving cases are registered daily through special enforcement programs. Therefore, motorists are urged to adhere to traffic regulations and motor vehicle laws for their own safety, emphasized City Police Commissioner Mr. Kanti Rana Tata, IPS.
