Chennai: A free UPSC, TNPSC coaching center for the disadvantaged sections of the society was inaugurated by the Former Chennai Police Commissioner R Natraj here on Sunday. Nataraj said earlier civil services were seeing a lot of traction from students from other professional backgrounds such as medicine, engineering and the like. ‘’Aspirants have started to sense and understand the importance that positions like IPS, IAS, IFS offer’. He added that in his days it was engineering and medicine that attracted students. CP Rao, IRS, Chief Commissioner Service Tax was the guest of honour, he said that was there was renewed interested towards civil services. “Civil services pay well, but more than the pay package aspirants have understood the tough challenges that major bureaucratic positions throw up and they are interested in taming them,” he said. VR Lakshmi Narayanan, Former Director General of Police extended his best wishes to the hopeful candidates who had gathered there. Kalyanasundaram, a former civil servant is the convenor of the coaching center. The institute plans to take in meritorious and economically weaker students who would require the much-needed help in taking up civil services and TNPSC exams. “Students can start approaching us. Initially, we are planning to conduct weekend batches. The same might be extended to weekday classes too, based on demands”, said Kalyanasundaram.]]>
