Hyderabad City: “The Commissioner of Police, Mr. C.V. Anand, IPS, held a video conference with all zonal DCPs, SHOs, and patrol, Blue Colts staff to meticulously review preparations for the upcoming Ganesh Chathurthi idol immersion. With Milad-Un-Nabi and the final day of Ganesh immersion coinciding for the first time in 35 years, CP Anand emphasized the need for heightened precautions. Given that some SHOs and DCPs are new to city policing and this event, CP and his staff officers dedicated considerable time to explain various aspects of the preparatory work for this significant event in the HCP calendar. In a comprehensive briefing, the City Police Chief outlined the six-phase security plan, providing a clear roadmap for managing security and traffic-related concerns and emphasizing the significance of each phase in ensuring a seamless celebration.
Phase 1, which begins today, encompasses preparations well in advance of idol installation. This includes distributing intimation forms, promoting online facilities, and formulating Bandobust plans at selling points, along the route, and on procession routes. In Phase 2, field officers will visit pandals to enhance security, inspect barricades, signage, CCTVs, queue maintenance, and traffic flow, all for the convenience of the public and devotees. Phase 3 involves planning for immersions, wherein officers were instructed to organize coordination meetings and expedite pending civic works by collaborating with relevant departments, setting the stage for Phases 4 and 5: Day 3 to the final day. During these phases, officers were tasked with identifying the number of cranes required, deployment locations, etc. Additionally, patrol cars and Blue Colts were instructed to continue patrolling even after the procession is complete and secure return routes. The senior leadership also emphasized that the directions of the Hon’ble High Court should be adhered to while making arrangements and stated that all officers must ensure that pop idols are immersed in baby ponds or artificial ponds. Instructions for surprise vehicle checks at strategic points, anti-sabotage checks, surprise inspections by senior officers, flag marches, briefing sessions, social media monitoring, and other operational aspects, including Bandobust and traffic arrangements for Milad-Un-Nabi, were discussed. “All the festivals since January were conducted peacefully, as were numerous other programs and events. Those were all quarter-finals and semi-finals; Ganesh Bandobust is the finals, and I am confident that you will all rise to the occasion and perform equally well,” concluded the top brass.”
