Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh: The “Abhayam Helmet Bank” initiative launched by the district police under the guidance of District SP Sri K.V. Maheshwara Reddy, IPS is creating strong public awareness about road safety and responsible driving.
During a vehicle inspection at Ambedkar Junction in Srikakulam town, traffic police noticed a family of four traveling on a scooter, with every member—including two children—wearing helmets. The unusual yet safety-conscious sight drew appreciation from both police personnel and the public.
The rider, identified as Ramesh, an electrician by profession, stated that the “Helmet Bank” initiative motivated him to prioritize the safety of his family by ensuring that everyone wears helmets while traveling.
Traffic Police Inspector V. Ramarao reminded citizens to follow traffic rules, including the regulation permitting only two persons on a two-wheeler.
District SP Sri K.V. Maheshwara Reddy, IPS emphasized that wearing helmets is essential for family safety and urged all motorists to strictly follow traffic regulations and travel responsibly. He added that the growing awareness created through the “Abhayam Helmet Bank” program is encouraging more people to adopt safe road practices.
