MANALI: Following the day the Kullu police had recovered a country-made pistol from a Delhi man traveling in a bus to Manali, an attack has been made on two Home Guard Jawans while they were conducting the night patrolling duty in Manali town. The attack was done by four persons while one of the accused shot a Home Guard jawan.
In the statement given by a jawan Mr. Tikhu Ram, he has stated that while he and Naresh Kumar were on patrolling duty in the Model Town area of Manali they came across four persons and they had an argument with them. The Home Guard jawans on duty asked the four persons the reason for roaming in the street at 1:30 am when there was nobody else in the town. Following this, the men started arguing and during the argument, one of them snatched the stick of Home Guard Naresh and started beating him. Mr. Tikhu Ram further stated that one among the four took out a country-made pistol and shot at Naresh. After the gunfire, all four persons fled from the spot.
Kullu SP Mr. Gaurav Singh said that the injured jawan was rushed immediately to a private hospital in Manali where he is presently stable. The three accused identified as Akash, resident of Delhi, Karan, resident of Pathankot and Sandeep, resident of Manali have been arrested. The accused who shot at the jawan has been identified as Shubham Panwar allies Shibu, a resident of Dehradun and is still absconding. All four accused work as shopkeepers and salesmen in Manali. When Shubham’s residence was searched the police recovered six live rounds.
A case has been registered under section 353, 332, 307, 34 IPC and 25/54/59 of the Arms Act.
In an effort to apprehend the absconding accused the police have distributed a photo of the accused and have also requested the public, especially hoteliers to share any clue about the accused.
