Hyderabad, Telangana:In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the sleuths of the Commissioner’s Task Force, West Zone Team, Hyderabad, in coordination with SR Nagar Police, successfully apprehended two persons found in possession of 70 kilograms of dry ganja worth approximately ₹35 lakh. The police also seized two mobile phones used in the commission of the crime.
The arrested accused have been identified as Maniel Dalabhera (30), a farmer from Gajapati district, Odisha, who cultivated ganja on agricultural land in his native village, and Ismail Raita (48), a fitter working in a private company in Medchal, Hyderabad, originally from Gajapati district, Odisha, who acted as a peddler.
Investigations revealed that due to financial difficulties, the cultivator resorted to illegal ganja cultivation, while the peddler, who had migrated to Hyderabad for employment, was lured into trafficking the narcotic substance and supplying it to customers in areas such as Dhoolpet and Medchal.
The swift intelligence-led operation by the Task Force and SR Nagar Police prevented a large quantity of narcotics from reaching the streets, protecting youth and vulnerable sections from drug abuse. The coordinated action reflects the Hyderabad Police’s firm commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against drugs and organized narcotics networks.
Police have once again appealed to the public, especially the youth, to stay away from drugs and to actively support the mission of keeping Hyderabad drug-free by reporting any drug-related activities to 100/112. The proactive efforts of the Task Force and local police have been widely appreciated for strengthening public safety and community well-being.
