Nainital, Uttarakhand: At the camp office in Haldwani today, IG Kumaon, Mrs. Riddhim Agarwal, conducted a comprehensive review of serious cases registered across the Kumaon region in Nainital district, with a special focus on cyber fraud, fraud targeting senior citizens, and land-related crimes.
During the review, the IG directed officers to accord top priority to the swift detection of cybercriminals, particularly those exploiting senior citizens. She emphasized the robust collection of technical evidence and expeditious recovery of defrauded amounts to ensure effective prosecution and timely relief to victims.
In cases involving fake land registrations and land fraud, clear instructions were issued for the confiscation of assets acquired through criminal activities, identification of organized gangs, and initiation of strict legal action. She also stressed taking steps to provide compensation to victims under the provisions of the new criminal laws.
Highlighting the importance of prevention, the IG placed special emphasis on cyber awareness initiatives, directing officers to conduct awareness campaigns in schools and colleges, with a focus on sensitizing students to help educate senior citizens on preventing cyber fraud.
Reiterating the core mission of the Kumaon Police, Mrs. Riddhim Agarwal underscored that fair, merit-based investigations, instilling fear among criminals, and building public trust remain the top priorities in maintaining law and order and ensuring justice for all.
