Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu: In a commendable display of swift investigation and dedicated follow-up, the Shiva Kanchi Police successfully recovered gold jewels that had been fraudulently taken from a woman and pledged without her knowledge.

According to police reports, Ms. Meerabhai alias Meera Gayathri had allegedly been collecting fraudulent donations and misleading the public with false claims for nearly four years. During this period, she, along with her associate Mr. Jagadesan, reportedly took gold jewels belonging to Ms. Punitha and pledged them at a pawn broker in West Mambakkam.

Following the incident, Ms. Punitha lodged a written complaint at the Shiva Kanchi Police Station around three months ago.

Acting on the complaint, the investigation team led by Inspector Mrs. Kanchana, under the direct supervision of the Station Inspector, conducted continuous inquiries and took effective action. With the cooperation of Mr. Senthil Kumar, who acted as a mediator, the pledged jewels were successfully retrieved and formally handed over to Ms. Punitha at the police station today.

The public and police officials extended their appreciation to Inspector Mrs. Kanchana and the Shiva Kanchi Police Station In-Charge for their dedicated and diligent work in resolving the case and ensuring justice for the complainant.

It was further found that Ms. Meerabhai had also submitted false statements to the Kancheepuram DSP, AC Crime Office, Chief Minister’s Cell, and Cyber Crime Cell in an attempt to mislead ongoing investigations.

Public Advisory

The public is strongly advised not to respond to any donation requests or appeals made by Ms. Meerabhai alias Meera Gayathri, as she has been involved in fraudulent activities.
