Ramban: In a recent development, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, acting on a tip-off received from reliable sources, launched a search operation in the Burzalla forest area of Ramban district. The search operation was conducted by the police and the special operations group from Banihal, and it led to the discovery of a militant hideout. The hideout was located in a far-flung, hilly, and forested area of tehsil Khari, and it was suspected to be holding arms, ammunition, and related material.
During the search, the police recovered a significant amount of ammunition and related items from the militant hideout. The seizure included two rifle grenades, an under-barrel grenade launcher (UBGL), a wireless set with antenna (without battery), two improvised explosive devices (IEDs), a detonator with wire, 17 cartridges of AK-47, seven cartridges of 9 mm ammunition, a jacket, and a pair of black leather shoes.
The police have registered a case under section 4 of the Explosive Substance Act at the Banihal police station and initiated an investigation.
