Bidar: It was against the backdrop of numerous reports from the public regarding the glaring absence of signboards along the recently constructed highway near Kolar, which has led to a surge in unfortunate accidents, a proactive initiative was undertaken to address the issue. The result was the formation of an “Accident Resolution Co-Ordination Group,” composed of dedicated and esteemed District Officers and department officials, all under the competent guidance of S.P. Bidar.
Taking into account the gravity of the situation and the urgency to ensure public safety, the following comprehensive actions have been promptly implemented:
Installation of Road Signs: An extensive effort has been made to install a comprehensive network of road signs along the highway. These signs encompass critical information such as speed limits, road conditions, upcoming junctions, pedestrian crossings, and other essential traffic guidelines. This concerted endeavor aims to provide clear and concise directions to motorists, reducing confusion and preventing accidents caused by inadequate signage.
Barricade Placement for Speed Reduction: In order to mitigate the risk of accidents near junctions, strategic barricades have been meticulously placed. These barriers serve the purpose of effectively slowing down vehicles, thereby allowing drivers ample time to assess the traffic situation and maneuver safely. By creating a controlled environment that encourages cautious driving, this measure contributes significantly to preventing collisions and potential injuries.
Unauthorized Trenching to Prevent Entry: A trench has been discreetly excavated from the service road to the main highway, ensuring that motorists do not inadvertently enter restricted areas. This unauthorized trenching acts as a deterrent, dissuading vehicles from accessing areas where construction or potential hazards are present. By effectively channeling traffic flow, this measure plays a crucial role in averting accidents and safeguarding both drivers and pedestrians.
Road Painting: To enhance visibility and raise overall awareness of road safety, diligent efforts have been made to paint the highway surface using high-visibility paint.
