Kolkata: Some of you may have heard of Mou Basti near Majerhat railway station under Taratala Police Station. The area is primarily home to poor laborers and honey sellers, and daily life is hard enough as it is. In addition, about 170 residents were forced to face an additional challenge – that of drinking water, which they had access to only after walking a distance of nearly 1.5 km.
When the Police learned of the problem that the residents are facing, two of our colleagues – Inspector Mr. Prasenjit Chatterjee, Officer-in-Charge, South West Traffic Guard, and Inspector Mr. Manas Jha, Officer-in-Charge, Community Policing Wing – swung into action. The residents are happy to tell that a water tanker has now been placed in the area due to the efforts of the police personal, which has come as a great relief to the affected residents.
