Kolkata: Last evening, information came into Haridevpur Police Station about an apparently mentally challenged woman loitering aimlessly in the Satyen Park area. Soon after, a team from Haridevpur Police Station including lady officers rushed to the spot and found the woman lying on the pavement in a miserable condition. Rescued and brought to the police station, she was given a change of clothes before anything else. However, our colleagues found that she was unable to tell them anything about herself, including her name.
Thus began the process of trying to locate her family, by engaging the relevant source network and contacting all adjoining police stations and the missing person squad, as well as scrutinizing the missing person portal. After a prolonged search, it was finally learned that a resident of Phultala in Baruipur had been missing since November 14, regarding which a complaint had been filed at Baruipur Police Station. In fact, her family had even announced a reward of Rs.50, 000 for any news of her. It was also learned that her husband is currently posted at Panchasayar Police Station as a constable.
Accordingly, family members of the missing lady were contacted and her photograph was sent to them for identification. Verification was done, she was handed over to her family at last, and everyone went home happy. We wish them all well.
