Kolkata: On Saturday, June 12, the traffic police received information that a 7-year-old child is recuperating from COVID-19 at a private hospital in Alipore and had developed serious post-COVID complications, which required specialized treatment. Unfortunately, such treatment facilities for children were not on offer at the hospital. A team of doctors advised her parents to transfer her to another private hospital on EM Bypass which specialized in such pediatric treatment. They also said the transfer would have to be immediate since her condition was deteriorating.
Her parents got in touch with the Traffic Control Room, explaining the situation. The information was relayed to Tiljala Traffic Guard, where the OC, Inspector Mr. Souvik Chakraborty, swung into action, coordinating with the Traffic Control Room to set up a green corridor which transported the ambulance carrying the little patient from Alipore to EM Bypass in just 15 minutes. Despite inclement weather and other challenges, he ensured that the ailing child could be transported swiftly, which came as some relief to her distraught parents. All the personnel of Kolkata Police wishes the little girl child a speedy recovery.
