Ludhiana: The Anti-Smuggling and Liquor Cell of the Ludhiana Police have arrested 6 persons and recovered 80 cartons of illicit liquor and have also seized Mahindra Jeep and Maruti Car from their possession.
The accused persons are Nirbhai Singh, Pradeep Kumar, Navdeep Singh, Bittu Kumar, Prem Kumar, Sumit Kumar, and Harjinder Singh. Sub Inspector Mr.Yashpal Sharma said the arrest was made following a discreet piece of information.
The accused was on the way to deliver liquor to Harjinder Singh who owns a spare parts shop in Sherpur Chowk. During interrogation, the accused revealed that they used to bring liquor outside Punjab and sell it in the City and surrounding places to earn money.
A case has been registered against the accused under the Excise Act and further investigation is underway.
