Nagaon: In a significant drug bust in Assam under the War on Drugs initiative by the Assam Police, Narcotics worth Rs.80 lakhs were confiscated and two individuals were apprehended in the Nagaon district of Assam.
Nagaon District Police executed the operation based on intelligence regarding a potential drug trade leading to the discovery of the narcotics. The law enforcement officials intercepted a Swift Dzire vehicle and confiscated the drugs. Two individuals present in the car were also detained on suspicion of smuggling the drugs.
The estimated value of the seized items is over Rs.80 lakhs. The individuals detained by the police have been identified as Anarul Islam and Moinuddin Ahmed. The drugs were being smuggled from Dimapur in Nagaland for distribution in Nagaon of Assam.
In an another drugs raid, a team of Mazbat police station which falls under the Udalguri District in Assam seized cannabis worth Rs.1.4 crores near the Assam – Arunachal Pradesh border. The police have initiated lawful action against the accused.
