Pune: In a concerted effort to combat the proliferation of illegal firearms, the Crime Branch team of the Pune Police executed a significant operation resulting in the apprehension of a 30-year-old individual from Karvenagar. This individual, identified as Suraj Rohidas Khandagle, hailing from Warje, was captured for the unlawful possession of firearms and live cartridges. The meticulous operation, undertaken in anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, underscores the authorities’ commitment to maintaining law and order.
The arrest of Khandagle follows diligent intelligence-gathering and surveillance efforts by the Crime Branch, aimed at targeting individuals suspected of involvement in the illicit possession and trafficking of firearms. The operation was set in motion upon receipt of actionable information concerning a suspected individual carrying firearms and live cartridges in the vicinity of Karvenagar.
On the designated day, police personnel strategically positioned themselves at Bhujbal bungalow, where they successfully ensnared the suspect. Despite initial resistance, the suspect eventually succumbed to the overwhelming evidence against him. A meticulous search operation conducted by the authorities yielded a firearm along with two live rounds in the possession of the apprehended individual.
