<![CDATA[Man arrested by the Anti-Land Grabbing Cell of the city police on Friday for creating a will and forging documents. The value of the property is worth more than ₹10 crore in Adambakkam. According to police, S. Thanigaivel, a real estate agent of Porur, obtained power of attorney from D. Prabhakar for 1.22 acres of land in Adambakkam in 2011, and has been enjoying the property. The suspect N. Murugan of Adambakkam prepared fake documents showing that the land belonged to Perumal, a freedom fighter, who was serving in Indian National Army of Subhas Chandra Bose. The police said Murugan claimed that Perumal was granted land by government and tashildar-settlement, Chengalpet, passed an order in Perumal’s name in 1974. Murugan claimed that he had a will created by the deceased Perumal in his favour and furnished this to the then Tambaram RDO. He obtained a patta in his name through an illigal manner in 2013 and claimed rights over the property. Shocked over this, Mr. Thanigaivel lodged a complaint with the police and had a long fight to recover the land. The investigation remained a little slow in action until special instructions came from city Police Commissioner Mr.A.K. Viswanathan. The special unit of the city police verified the land records of Kancheepuram district Collector and did not find Perumal’s name in the documents. Murugan was arrested by the special unit on charges of cheating, forgery and other offenses. Meanwhile, the Anti-land grabbing special unit arrested B. Sunderasan aged 52, of Jamin Pallavaram, for registering 1.11 acres of land worth more than Rs.5 crore belonging to a private construction firm in his name and that of his wife in a illegal manner. The charge against him was that he created a document as if the property was pledged to his father and later registered it in his family name illegally.]]>
