Manipur, Imphal West, | April 19, 2025: In a commendable operation, Manipur Police successfully rescued four individuals, including three women, who were wrongfully confined in a house at Langol Laimanai in Imphal West District. The victims were allegedly held against their will in connection with a private dispute over an elopement.
Acting on credible information, the police swiftly moved into action and arrested three individuals involved in the illegal confinement. The arrested persons have been identified as: Thangjam Basanti Leima (50) of Thongjao Mayai Leikai; Waikhom Geeta Devi (36) of Changangei; and Kangabam Sundari Devi (57) of Changangei Uchekon
Investigations revealed that the accused, led by Basanti Leima, had allegedly demanded Rs.5 lakh from the primary victim in relation to the elopement. Further inquiries confirmed that all three arrested individuals are members of an organization known as AMO (Amour of Manipur).
The timely response and effective action of the Imphal West police ensured the safety of the victims and the immediate arrest of the perpetrators. Authorities have initiated legal proceedings, and further investigation is underway to determine the full extent of the incident and the organization’s involvement.
