Ramanathapuram: The Thondi police in Ramanathapuram district received a tip-off about banned marine leeches being hoarded in the M.V. Pattinam beach area near Thondi. Acting on this information, a team led by Sub-Inspector Vishnu conducted a search at the location and seized around 500 kg of sea leeches stored in 39 sacks by Kalimuthu (60), son of Arumugam, from the Choliakudi area. Kalimuthu was subsequently arrested and subjected to intensive questioning.
