Bhopal: Mr. Yogesh Deshmukh, the Additional Director General of Police at the State Cyber Police Headquarters in Bhopal, has provided detailed information regarding an ongoing investigation by the Cyber Cell Bhopal. The investigation concerns the fraudulent issuance of a considerable number of SIM cards across different areas of Madhya Pradesh. Disturbingly, it has been discovered that many of these SIM cards were obtained under false identities, including the names of specific individuals.
According to the Cyber Cell’s findings, approximately 1000 SIM cards have been fraudulently issued, raising concerns about the possibility of organized criminal activities being carried out using these SIM cards. In response to these suspicions, the case is currently being investigated by the Cyber and High Technical Crime Station in Bhopal. To aid in the investigation, summonses are being issued to operators and agents involved in the issuance of these SIM cards.
At the initial stages of the inquiry, it was revealed that more than 2000 fake SIM cards were distributed by approximately 50 Point of Sale (POS) systems, all using the same individual’s photo and name. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the police have promptly issued summonses to the operators and agents responsible for further questioning and examination.
The Cyber Cell Bhopal, under the leadership of Mr. Yogesh Deshmukh, is actively engaged in unraveling the intricate web of this fraudulent SIM card issuance scheme. The investigation aims to uncover the culprits behind this organized activity and prevent the potential misuse of these SIM cards for cybercrimes.
