Navi Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai Police made an official note of the details of a Delhi resident, along with his wife and brother-in-law on Wednesday for trying to extract by force Rs.20 lakh from a young woman. The woman aged 26 is a resident of Kalamboli and works at a firm in Vashi. She came in contact with the accused, Shravan Shukla when she had gone to Delhi on an official trip recently, the Vashi Police said. The police said the two became friends and entered into a relationship. On seeing the woman’s pictures on her husband’s phone, she called her. The woman then came to know that the accused was married. Then the woman confronted Mr. Shukla and he told her that he was afraid that she would end the relationship if he revealed the matter. The police said that on her knowing the truth the woman began to avoid the accused. Mr. Shukla called the woman on March 22 and threatened her that he will upload her intimate photos on social media if she did not pay him Rs.20 lakh. The woman lodged a complaint at the Vashi Police station and in her complaint, it was stated that Mr. Shukla, his wife and brother-in-law threatened her about making the photos public. The police have booked the accused under Section 385 (putting person in fear of injury in order to commit extortion) of the Indian Penal Code.
