Dindigul, Tamil Nadu: In a surprise enforcement operation, officials of the Dindigul District Food Safety Department seized approximately 125 kilograms of illegally stocked tobacco products worth around ₹1.50 lakh from a shop in Vedapatti.
The raid was led by Designated Officer Kalaiwani along with Food Safety Officer Selvam and other officials during inspections conducted across various shops in Dindigul city.
Authorities discovered the banned tobacco products stocked for sale at a shop owned by Loganathan of Kaliamman Temple Street. Following the seizure, the shop was locked and sealed, and a case was registered against the owner. Further legal proceedings are underway.
The operation reflects the continued efforts of enforcement agencies to curb the illegal sale of tobacco products and protect public health.
