<![CDATA[The online verification process done on a tenant or an employee or to get a character certificate from the police will soon commence. This will happen within the next month. This facility will be introduced by the police through the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS). Various services have already been introduced under the citizen portal of the CCTNS, such as obtaining lost document report, downloading road accident documents, registering online complaints and tracking it, viewing FIR and CSR besides tracking its status and vehicle search. Ms. Seema Agarwal, Director, State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB) said that applying and downloading forms will go online primarily for tenant verification, job verification ad self-verification or character certificate. This is planned to be introduced by the end of September 2018. She added saying that the option is available on the citizen portal in the Tamil Nadu police’s website. The person will have to fill in a simple form and upload a government authorized identity card. They will also have to make a payment of Rs.500 for an individual and Rs.1, 000 for companies. Once this procedure is completed, a policeman will visit the residence of the person who stands in need of verification. On the consent of the concerned individual the police will continue the process. The certificate can be procured in a couple of weeks added the senior police officer. A police officer said that this facility will be helpful for those in South Chennai because many people from other states stay in localities like Perungudi and Velachery as it is closer to their work place, mainly the IT companies. The owners of their houses and the companies they work in can get the verification done at the click of a mouse. The coordinator of the Federation of OMR Residents’ Association, Mr. Harsha Koda, felt it would be useful, especially for the owners who are abroad and elsewhere in the country. He said that this facility has to be implemented properly at the ground level. Meanwhile, a resident of Mylapore, Ms. Uma Maheshwari said that it would be helpful as not all would like to go to police station.]]>
