Haridwar: Operation Maryada, which was carried out by the Haridwar Police, was aimed at cracking down on individuals who indulge in drug and hooddang consumption near the Ganga Ghats and other religious sites. Over a period of 15 days, the police issued a staggering 2106 challans, indicating that strict action was being taken against violators of the law. Additionally, they arrested 102 individuals who were caught consuming drugs or engaging in hooddang activities, which pose a risk to public safety and health.

As a result of the operation, a fine of more than 5 lakhs was collected from those who were caught violating the law, which serves as a strong deterrent for future offenders. It is important to note that these actions were taken in order to maintain the dignity and sanctity of the Ganga ghats and other religious locations in Uttarakhand.
