Jalpaiguri: In Jalpaiguri, a significant step has been taken toward enhancing women’s safety with the introduction of the ‘Pink Mobile’ patrol, a specialized initiative involving women police personnel. These officers, part of the state’s ‘Winners’ force, now actively patrols the streets on motorcycles, symbolizing their readiness to respond swiftly to incidents.
In addition to this, the Jalpaiguri District Police has recently launched an advanced fleet of ‘Pink Mobile’ vehicles, staffed entirely by specially trained women police officers and personnel. These vehicles are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and designed to conduct round-the-clock patrolling, ensuring continuous surveillance and immediate assistance for women in need. Their primary mission is to safeguard women traveling on roads, whether they are commuting to work, school, or engaged in other daily activities. The presence of these vehicles also aims to create a deterrent effect, discouraging potential perpetrators from committing crimes.
The ‘Pink Mobile’ initiative is an extension of the ‘Winners’ force, which has already been established in every district and commissionerate throughout the state. The ‘Winners’ force is recognized for its focus on women’s safety and empowerment, and the addition of the ‘Pink Mobile’ units enhances their capacity to respond to emergencies more effectively.
This new initiative in Jalpaiguri is only the beginning, as the state government has plans to roll out the ‘Pink Mobile’ program across all districts in the near future. The goal is to establish a robust network of mobile units dedicated to ensuring that women feel safe and protected, regardless of where they are within the state. By increasing visibility and presence on the roads, the ‘Pink Mobile’ units serve as both a protective measure and a symbol of empowerment for women in society.
