<![CDATA[Over a month after a 47-year-old financier was stabbed to death outside his residence in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar, four persons have been arrested in connection with the case, the police told on Thursday. A juvenile was also apprehended in connection with the case, they told. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Mr.Romil Baaniya told that gemstone dealer Manjot Singh alias Meeta (48), Dinesh alias Chandan (22), Rajender Singh alias Vicky (33), and Rohit Thakur (30) were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly murdering Sanjay Chawla on February 8. Another accused, Kale, is on the run, he added. Mr. Chawla, a property dealer, was walking home from office when he was stabbed by the accused, who fled the spot immediately. The victim’s mother and neighbor took him to a hospital, which referred him to Max Hospital, the police told, adding that he succumbed to injuries later. Analysis of Mr. Chawla’s financial records during investigation pointed the police in the direction of Manjot, who had taken a loan of Rs.52 lakh from the victim. Mr. Baaniya told that all financial documents recovered from the victim’s office were analyzed. All persons with whom he had business deals were questioned. Footage from CCTV camera at the crime spot was examined. The footage showed Manjot roaming around in the area. Acting on a confidential piece of information that accused Dinesh and the 17-year-old juvenile would come to Chirag Delhi, the police laid a trap and apprehended the duo,the police told. During interrogation, the duo allegedly confessed to having stabbed Mr. Chawla on directions from Rohit, Vicky and Kale. Rohit and Vicky were arrested based on information provided by the duo. They allegedly told the police that Manjot had planned the murder. He was arrested later in the day,the police told. During questioning, Manjot told the police that he had taken a loan of ₹52 lakh from Mr. Chawla but was unable to repay the interest since the past few months. Manjot claimed the victim would humiliate him due to this. Mr. Baaniya told that Manjot wanted revenge. He hired Vicky and Rohit to kill Mr. Chawla and promised them Rs.5 lakh for the job. Vicky and Rohit told Kale about the plan. Kale hired budding criminals Dinesh and the minor for Rs.35,000. The accused allegedly told the police that Dinesh and the juvenile followed the victim all the way from his office to home on February 8, stabbed him and fled the spot. They were paid ₹35,000 for the job. The police have recovered the knife used to stab Mr. Chawla. They added that efforts are on to arrest Kale.]]>
