<![CDATA[A container lorry hijacking case has been resolved by the Sunguvarchatram police and has retrieved the vehicle with goods from a godown at Redhills within a week of reporting of the incident. According to the police, the driver, Arulmani of Tirunelveli, who drove the container lorry laden with automobile spare parts worth Rs.1 crore from Bengaluru to Chennai Port, lodged a complaint with the Sunguvarchatram police on September 8 stating that the vehicle was hijacked by a group of persons on September 7. The police attempted to track the lorry with the help of the GPS device fixed in it and ascertained that the vehicle was moving towards Andhra Pradesh. The gang however had removed the device. The police, then collected information about the movement of the hijacked lorry from the toll gates. Further investigations by the police revealed that the lorry had been parked in a godown at Redhills. The police found the lorry at the godown, where the accused were engaged in changing the colour and number plate of the lorry. Eight persons hailing from North Chennai were arrested.]]>
