<![CDATA[New Delhi: As Part of their drive against sale of illegal firecrackers in the capital as the festival of Diwali is nearing, the Delhi city police have seized 256 Kg of illegal firecrackers in West Delhi’s Khayala on Sunday. The police said that they have also arrested a shopkeeper who had stored the firecrackers without the required permissions. The shopkeeper had stored it at a godown in Khayala, they said. DCP (West) Ms. Monika Bhardwaj said the accused Dal Chand is a resident of JJ Colony in Raghubir Nagar. He owns a grocery shop in the area. With an aim to earn quick money during this festive season he utilized the premises of his residence, located at a densely populated area, to stock the crackers. He does not have permission or license to store firecrackers. A FIR has been registered against Dal Chand at Khayala police station under relevant sections of the IPC and Explosives Act. Ms. Bhardwaj said that all Police Inspectors in the district have been directed to ensure no illegal firecrackers are sold in their respective areas. An information was received by the police about the illegal firecrackers being stored in the house on Sunday morning. The firecrackers were seized after they conducted a raid. The police are investigating from where the accused had obtained the firecrackers, Ms. Bhardwaj said.]]>
