LUCKNOW: Violence erupted in Lucknow after the circulation of a video that showed objectionable comments on Hindu gods, goddesses and women on Thursday, but alert Uttar Pradesh Police quickly brought the situation under its control. Tension led to protests in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri town after the release of the video. Violence broke out on Thursday night after the video was posted on social media leading to clamping of curfew in a few parts of the city. After the videos were posted that were reportedly shot on Wednesday, two communities clashed, resulting in vandalism of shops in Kharwaranganj and Kucchehri areas. Two persons were injured after shots were fired. Police arrested a youth along with two other accomplices for the video. Police took the accused to the jail on Thursday night, where the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) was called and a brief hearing was held. The accused were sent to 17 days of judicial custody by the CJM. ]]>
