<![CDATA[On Monday morning a police constable was found dead by the residents inside a school ground which is near a Tasmac shop near Sriperumbudur. The police suspect that he could have been beaten to death on Sunday night by a group of habitual drinkers of alcohol., who were consuming liquor on the ground. Mr.P. Mohanraj, a grade- I constable, was recently transferred to the Sunguvarchatram police station from the Otteri station. Being a native of Poigai Nallur village in Vellore district, he went on leave last week and was expected to report for night duty on Sunday. However, he did not turn up at the station, the police said. The Sunguvarchatram police received information from the residents of Thirumangalam Kandigai near Sriperumbudur on Monday morning that they had found a body on the ground of a school near a Tasmac shop. On inspection the police found Mr.Mohanraj’s motorcycle lying outside the school premises and the body on the ground. The body, the police said, bore marks of deep wounds. Broken glass bottles and stones were found scattered around the body. Deputy Inspector-General of Police Ms.P.C. Thenmozhi and Kancheepuram District Superintendent of Police Mr.Santhosh Hadimani inspected the spot and held an inquiry.
