CHENNAI: A minor girl aged 3 was allegedly beaten to death on Sunday. Police detained the persons involved in the crime. The deceased is identified as Yazhini, the dauther of Bhavani through her previous marriage. At present she is with Asif, her second husband. According to police, Bhavani and Asif allegedly had beaten their minor daughter to death and took her to a hospital in Red Hills claiming that she was unwell. They told doctors that the child had fallen down from a table. When the doctor checked her body she was declared brought dead. Soon, the couple took her body home. The doctors too did not raise any doubts about the death. However, the news spread among local residents, who passed on the information to Ramesh, the father of the child. He alerted the police stating that his daughter had been beaten to death by her mother and stepfather. On information, police reached the house of Bhavani and Asif and sent Yazhini’s body for postmortem examination to the Government Stanely Medical College and Hospital. Doctor’s report revealed that there were injury marks on Yazhini’s forhead, chest and abdomen. However, the couple claimed that the child was vomiting and had collapsed. Nevertheless, Police detained the couple for interrogation and registered a case of suspicious death. During the investigation, police found that Asif was displeased as the child kept crying during nights. Besides, he was also involved in some criminal cases in the locality. ]]>
