Sukma, Chhattisgarh: As a part of the ‘Poonam Margam’ initiative, a total of 29 Naxalites have abandoned violence and surrendered before Sukma Police. The steady and intensified outreach of the police, combined with the implementation of various government rehabilitation and development schemes under the anti-Naxal strategy, has played a major role in guiding the misguided individuals back into the mainstream.
Officials stated that the sustained efforts of security forces, development programs, and confidence-building measures in remote areas are significantly weakening Naxal influence in the region. The surrendering Naxalites have expressed willingness to integrate into society and avail rehabilitation benefits provided under the government policy.
District Police authorities have assured that those who choose the path of peace will receive assistance for livelihood, skill development, and reintegration, reinforcing the message that dialogue, development, and support remain the foundation for ending extremism.
