CHENNAI: Police apprehended three culprits who were accused of being involved in looting valuables and two smart-phones at knife-point. The accused have been identified as Vijay, Deva and Parthiban. The robbed valuables have been restored and a knife was seized.
The incident happened on Wednesday night, a three-member gang approached the victims, Jerin, Immanuel, Bobby and Raja of Ayanavaram and looted their valuables at knife-point. It was said that the victims after attending a wedding nearby had gone to relax on the Marina beach. While they were sitting close to the beach behind the Nethaji statue, a three member gang approached them and started a conversation. Meanwhile, the gang threatened them and snatched a splendid chain and smart-phones. One of the victims got slashed on the cheek while refused to give. Then they flew from the spot immediately.
Following the incident, the victims informed the police personnel who were on patrol. In the meantime, the accused had blended with the people who were sleeping on the beach by then. The police searched all of them and recovered the snatched valuables and a knife from them.
Initially, police arrested Vijay of Zam Bazaar. Later, based on his inputs police manged to catch the other duo accused too. Three of them remanded in judicial custody.
