<![CDATA[A 30-year-old woman and one-year-old son were found stabbed to death on Tuesday morning in north-west Delhi’s Jahangirpuri, the police told. The woman’s husband, who is the prime suspect in the case, is absconding, they added. The bodies of Shobha and her son were found at their Jahangirpuri E-block residence around 8.30 a.m. Her other children, two sons aged 7 years and 5 years, were allegedly present in the room where the bodies were found. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) Ms. Aslam Khan told that Shobha’s brother-in-law Roshan, who stays on the ground floor, called the police around 8.30 a.m . Stating that the victims were stabbed multiple times, the police told that the knife used was not found at the spot and that Shobha’s husband Om Prakash was nowhere to be seen. Ms. Khan told that the police suspect that he is the killer since he is on the run. He paints walls for a living and we have been told that he does not have a phone, adding that several teams have been formed to nab Mr. Prakash. Shobha’s 7-year-old son alleged that his father stabbed his mother and brother, who was fondly called Babu by the family. “Papa ne pehle Babu ko mara aur phir maa ko [Papa killed Babu before killing mummy],” the boy claimed. Shobha’s brother Suresh claimed the couple fought over petty issues and that the suspect beat his sister regularly. “They got married 13 years ago and he had been abusing and beating her ever since. She would shift to her maternal home often,” Mr. Suresh told. He added that Shobha had returned to the Jahangirpuri house only eight days ago as she was tired of being thrashed frequently. The police told that Shobha had approached them in 2010 to register a case against her husband for beating her but the matter was settled amicably. They are questioning Mr. Prakash’s family in order to locate him and are also trying to ascertain why the one-year-old was targeted along with his mother and the other sons spared.]]>
