Belagavi, Karnataka: In a major breakthrough against vehicle theft, the Kudachi Police in Belagavi district arrested a habitual bike thief and recovered 20 stolen motorcycles worth approximately ₹5.75 lakh, significantly solving multiple theft cases.
The case originated from the theft of a motorcycle during a fair in Suttatti village of Rayabhaga Taluk. Following a complaint lodged by the bike owner, Pushpa Mahadev Nandakura, at Kudachi Police Station, police launched a detailed investigation.
During the investigation, police intercepted a man riding a motorcycle near Chinchali town under suspicious circumstances. On questioning, he failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the vehicle. He was taken into custody and later identified as Malaguda Annasaheb Patil (38).
During sustained interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to his involvement in multiple motorcycle thefts. Based on the information provided by him, the police recovered 20 stolen motorcycles from different locations. The total value of the recovered vehicles is estimated at ₹5.75 lakh.
A case has been registered at Kudachi Police Station, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the accused’s involvement in additional vehicle theft cases and identify any possible associates.
The successful operation demonstrates the vigilance and professionalism of the Belagavi District Police in detecting property offences, recovering stolen vehicles, and bringing offenders to justice. It also reinforces public confidence in the police’s commitment to safeguarding citizens’ property and curbing vehicle theft through effective investigation.
