Abohar: Police have arrested two persons and recovered 160-kg poppy husk from their possession who were trying to smuggle. Following information, the police set up a check post near Sirsali Village and a truck was intercepted. During the inspection, the driver of the good carrier showed the receipt which indicated that the truck was transporting garlic to Sangrur district. However, further inspection for physical verification helped police recover the heap of poppy husk consisted of around 165 kg that was packed in some bags. The accused have been identified as vehicle driver Amandeep Singh of Lehragaga and cleaner Kulwinder Singh of Suam. Both of them were remanded and booked for smuggling. In another incident, the Abhor police seized 11kg of poppy husk and heroin from Kulwant Singh Babbu of Surewala Village; and Sumit Kumar of Prem Nagar and Shubham of Bhagwanpur colonies respectively. On another occasion, Sriganganagar police also seized 670 habit-forming tablets from Balkaran Singh of Kishanpura and Gurpreet Singh of Kohla village. The bolero Jeep used by the duo has been captured and kept under police custody. ]]>
