Trivandrum: On Wednesday evening, Birshu Raba, a West Bengal native, hurriedly entered Thambanoor police station, pleading, “Sir, save me!”. The winning ticket for the first prize was purchased by Birshu from a lottery vendor in Thampanoor on Monday. Later in the evening, when the lottery vendor checked the ticket, he discovered that Birshu had won the top prize. Fearing potential harm from others who might learn about his windfall, Birshu urgently sought assistance at the police station. He requested help in handing over the ticket and requested security until the transfer could be completed. The SHO of Thambanur, Prakash, promptly responded to Birshu’s plea and summoned the manager of the Federal Bank. Birshu remained at the station under protection until the ticket was safely transferred to the bank manager. After receiving advice on using the money wisely and arranging for a secure place to stay, Birshu was escorted away from the police station.
