Lakhimpur, Assam: In a major anti-narcotics operation, police from Dhalpur Outpost successfully intercepted a Tata Harrier SUV and recovered a large quantity of suspected cannabis (ganja) following a brief chase.
Acting on a specific tip-off, a police team launched an operation to intercept the vehicle, which allegedly attempted to flee the scene upon spotting the police. After pursuing the vehicle, officers managed to stop it and conducted a thorough search.
During the search, police recovered 11 bags containing suspected ganja weighing approximately 56.84 kilograms from the vehicle. The contraband was seized in accordance with legal procedures. One individual has been apprehended in connection with the case and is currently being questioned by investigators.
Police officials stated that further legal action is underway, and an investigation has been launched to ascertain the source and intended destination of the seized narcotics, as well as to identify any other individuals involved in the alleged trafficking network.
The seizure is being viewed as a significant success in the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to curb the illegal drug trade in the region.
