Kannur: A total of 314 police officers who have successfully completed their rigorous training are now poised to officially join the force. The prestigious passing out parade, marking the culmination of their intensive preparation, was held at the Kannur KAP 4th Battalion Parade Ground. The event was graced by the presence of Kerala’s Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, who took the salute as the officers showcased their discipline and dedication.
The parade was a significant event, attended by a number of high-ranking officials, reflecting the importance of the occasion. Among those present were State Police Chief Dr. Sheikh Darvesh Sahib, who oversees the overall functioning of the state police; ADGP Armed Police Battalion M. R. Ajit Kumar, a senior official with extensive experience in the police force; and D.I.G. Jayadev, who currently holds additional charge of the Armed Police Battalion. Other notable attendees included KAP 2 Battalion Commandant R Rajesh and KAP 4 Battalion Commandant Arun K. Pavithran, both of whom played pivotal roles in overseeing the training of the new officers.
Out of the 314 officers, 162 are from the KAP 4th Battalion, while 152 belong to the KAP 2nd Battalion. These officers, having completed nine months of professional training, stood proudly as they took their oaths and formally joined the police force. Their training was comprehensive and demanding, covering not just physical fitness and weapons handling but also in-depth knowledge of various laws, cybercrime, and forensic science. This holistic approach ensures that the officers are well-prepared to face the diverse challenges of modern policing.
The educational background of the newly inducted officers is notably diverse, reflecting a wide range of academic achievements. Among them are 20 postgraduates, individuals who have pursued advanced studies in their fields, and two M.Tech graduates, who have specialized in technical disciplines. The force also includes five MBA graduates, trained in management skills, and 31 B.Tech graduates, equipped with engineering expertise. Additionally, there are 154 officers with undergraduate degrees, demonstrating a solid foundation in various academic disciplines, and one officer who holds a B.Ed degree, indicating expertise in education. Beyond these, 25 of the new officers have completed diploma or ITI courses, providing them with practical and technical skills, while 75 have achieved higher secondary education qualifications.
The passing out parade itself was a display of precision and coordination, led by two exemplary officers: Akhil Kumar M of the KAP 4th Battalion and Vishnu Manikandan, the Second in Command of the KAP 2nd Battalion. Their leadership during the parade exemplified the high standards of discipline and professionalism instilled in all the trainees.
In recognition of outstanding performance during their training, several officers were awarded special honors by the Chief Minister. These awards highlighted the exceptional skills and dedication displayed by the officers in various aspects of their training. In the KAP 4th Battalion, Ashin TTK was recognized as the Best Shooter, Christy Thomas K received the Best Indoor award, Akhil Kumar M was named the All Rounder, and Ahmed Shabad K was honored as the Best Outdoor performer. Similarly, in the KAP 2nd Battalion, Suman S was awarded Best Shooter, Mohammad Shanu B was recognized as Best Indoor, Adarsh PR received the Best Outdoor award, and Vishnu Manikandan was named the All Rounder.
The event marked a significant milestone in the careers of these 314 officers, who are now ready to serve and protect the community, equipped with the skills, knowledge, and values imparted to them during their training. Their induction into the police force is not only a personal achievement but also a reinforcement of the state’s commitment to maintaining law and order through a well-trained and highly motivated police force.
