Chandigarh, Punjab, June 4: In a determined push to intensify the ongoing War on Drugs, Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab convened a high-level review meeting with Special DGPs, ADGPs, IGPs, DIGs, and all Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) and Commissioners of Police (CPs) across the state.
The meeting focused on assessing the district-wise performance over the past three months in the anti-drug campaign, while also reviewing the overall law and order and internal security scenario of Punjab.
A comprehensive presentation was delivered by the ADGP, Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Punjab, highlighting the progress made, key achievements, and challenges faced in the fight against drug trafficking and abuse. CPs and SSPs also shared detailed updates from their respective jurisdictions.
The DGP emphasized that the Punjab Police’s strategy relies on a dual approach—intensified enforcement against drug networks, and robust community-based prevention efforts to tackle drug abuse at the grassroots level. The ANTF’s action plan includes a strong focus on rehabilitation, public engagement, and strict legal action, offering a holistic path toward eliminating the drug menace.
Reiterating the mission, the DGP stated:
“I urge all officers and units of Punjab Police to continue working with integrity, dedication, and proactive spirit. Our shared goal is a safer and drug-free Punjab for future generations.”
This review marks another strong step in the state’s commitment to eradicating narcotics through united enforcement and social partnership.
