Mohali, Punjab, June 2025 – In a significant intelligence-led operation, the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), Mohali, apprehended Resham Singh, a key operative of the banned secessionist group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ). The accused, a resident of Hamidi village in Barnala district, was arrested for his involvement in a series of anti-national and disruptive acts carried out across Punjab.
According to preliminary investigations, Resham Singh was responsible for vandalizing a statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar at Nangal in Phillaur (Jalandhar) in early June 2025. The act was carried out on the instructions of USA-based SFJ Chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannu and wanted extremist Surinder Singh Thikriwal, both of whom are already facing multiple UAPA charges.
The accused had been on the run since the incident and was also involved in defacing public property with Pro-Khalistan and Pro-SFJ graffiti in Patiala, Faridkot, Jalandhar, and other locations. During the Indo-Pak escalation in May 2025, Resham Singh allegedly painted inflammatory slogans like “Pakistan Zindabad” and “Khalistan Zindabad” in an attempt to incite unrest and propagate anti-national sentiments. Evidence also suggests he received foreign funding to execute these unlawful activities.
Notably, Resham Singh has previously been booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in cases registered in Karnal (Haryana) and Sangrur (Punjab) for similar offences.
A fresh FIR has been registered at SSOC Mohali, and further investigation is underway to uncover the wider network involved in the conspiracy.
The Punjab Police reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to preserving peace, national integrity, and the rule of law, and assured that strict action will continue against individuals and groups attempting to destabilize communal harmony.
