Rachakonda: On May 25, 2023, near DPS School in Ghatkesar, the Special Operations Team (SOT) of Malkajgiri, working under the Ghatkesar Police, apprehended an individual involved in a case of Day House Breaking and Theft. The person has been identified as Peetla Gangadhar, also known as Vadde Peetla Gangadhar or Samba. He is the son of Chandrashekar, aged 26 years, belonging to the Vadde caste and working as a laborer. Gangadhar resides in Kalyanadurgam Town, Ananthapur District, Andhra Pradesh.
During the arrest, the following items were recovered:
Approximately 16.5 Tulas (a measurement of weight for gold)
Net cash amounting to Rs.3,48,900/-
Seized items: 1 iron rod and 1 pair of hand gloves
On April 7, 2023, at 16:00 hrs, a complaint was received from Mr. Thalka Ramulu, a 64-year-old Christian photographer residing in Dwarakanagar, Ghatkesar, Medchal district. He reported that on the same day at 11:40 hours, he had locked his house and left with his family to attend Bethel Bible Fellowship Church. When they returned at 15:20 hours, they discovered that the main door hook had been broken, indicating unauthorized entry. Upon inspection, it was found that the offenders had stolen 21 Tulas of gold ornaments and Rs.5 lakh in cash.
Background information about the accused reveals that Gangadhar is originally from Kommanachetla Veedhi, Kalyanadurgam Town, Ananthapur District, Andhra Pradesh. He has a history of engaging in gambling and involvement with prostitutes. In order to sustain his extravagant lifestyle, Gangadhar started committing thefts in 2011. He has been involved in more than 40 property offenses, specifically targeting locked houses during the day, and has been arrested multiple times by the respective police authorities. His criminal activities span across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka.
The accused’s modus operandi involves randomly selecting locked houses during daylight hours while walking in various towns and states. He carries an iron rod to break the main door hook and gain entry. Gangadhar searches for valuables such as ornaments and cash in cupboards, iron boxes, under beds, and any other possible locations where people store valuable items. Before committing the theft, he assesses potential escape routes in case he is caught in the act. After stealing the items, he conceals them in dirty carry bags found within the targeted houses. Gangadhar predominantly relies on public transportation, such as RTC buses and autos, for his criminal activities.
Based on credible information, Gangadhar was apprehended near DPS School in Ghatkesar at 06:00 hours today. The police successfully recovered 16.5 Tulas of gold ornaments and a net cash amount of Rs.3,48,900/-.
