Rachakonda: As part of a special drive on spurious seed offenders to create a sense of safety and security among the innocent farmers’ community for their investments in cotton farming and to preserve public order in Rachakonda Police Commissionerate, CP invoked the PD Act against one of the notorious spurious cotton seed offender involved in 3 Cases in the limits of Rachakonda and Cyberabad Commissionerates. He was continuously and repeatedly indulging in the selling of banned herbicide-tolerant cotton seeds in the limits of Rachakonda Commissionerate and other parts of Telangana State. Undoubtedly, the acts and misdeeds committed by the accused not only landed the poor farmers in a perennial trap but also cheated them and their dependent families with conspiracy beyond recovery which ultimately resulting in the suicides of farmers and thereby affecting the public order adversely.
In a tip-off, Vanasthaliuram Police and Agriculture officers of Saroomagar Mandal raided the premises of his illegal storage at Vanasthalipuram on 11-06-2021 and apprehended the accused Kakani Venkata Ramana Babu alias Ramana, and Police seized Cotton Hy Cotton BG-II – Surekha Variety, Sri Sai Variety, and Loose Cotton Seed having a total worth of Rs.4,31,000/ from the premises of the Godown and also seized the packing equipment, weighing machines at the instance of the accused.
The accused also was involved in 2 more similar cases in the limits of Shahabad and Kondurgu Police Stations of Cyberabad.
With a view to preventing said accused from acting in a manner prejudicial to the maintenance of public order, Preventive Detention orders are invoked against him by Mr. Mahesh M.Bhagwat, I.P.S., Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda as a part of the preservation of peace and maintaining public order in Rachakonda and to check the menace of spurious seed offenders and executed detention order to him and lodged in Central prison, Cherlapally on 05-07-2021.
The details of the arrested accused Kakani Venkata Ramana Babu alias Ramana, S/o late Laxminarayana, aged 59 years, Occ: Seeds Business, R/o. Flat No.105, Road No.1, Yashodhara Enclave Apartment, Yashoda Nagar, Vanasthalipuram, Guntur District.
