Vizianagaram: Mr. Vakul Jindal, IPS, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Vizianagaram, has spearheaded a range of proactive initiatives aimed at improving public safety, law enforcement response, and overall community welfare. Among these efforts, he formed SHE Teams, a specialized unit dedicated to curbing incidents of eve-teasing and ensuring the safety and security of women in public spaces. These teams have been particularly active in areas with heavy foot traffic and during major events.

Additionally, he established the Police Sevadal, a service-oriented division designed to provide assistance to vulnerable groups, including elderly individuals and persons with physical disabilities. This initiative has been instrumental in offering much-needed support during emergencies and routine activities, ensuring these citizens receive help in navigating public places, accessing essential services, and even addressing basic day-to-day challenges.

To tackle rising incidents of theft and robbery, especially snatchings, Crime Teams have been set up to conduct focused patrols and intelligence gathering to prevent such crimes. These teams work around the clock, especially in crowded markets, during public gatherings, and in areas prone to such offenses.

Moreover, in light of potential threats during festivals and large-scale events, Bomb Detection (BD) Teams have been organized. Their primary focus is on conducting thorough sabotage checks and ensuring that any risk of untoward incidents is mitigated. These teams are trained in handling suspicious objects, explosive materials, and conducting preventative security sweeps, especially during festivals and public gatherings where the risk is heightened.

The efforts of the SHE Teams have been particularly well-received by the public during the recent Sri Pydithallamma Goddess festival, which took place on October 14th and 15th, 2024. The festival, known for drawing large crowds, saw a significant deployment of the SHE Teams, whose vigilant presence and quick response times were praised for effectively ensuring the safety and security of women attending the event. Their work contributed to creating a safe and respectful atmosphere, allowing the public to celebrate the festival without fear or incident. The community has expressed widespread appreciation for the dedicated efforts of the police force under the leadership of Mr. Vakul Jindal, IPS, recognizing their commitment to maintaining peace and safety during such large-scale public events.
